Don’t talk about, Be about it….

Everyone has something that matters to them. Everyone has an obsession, a fixation, a strong desire, a true love for something.

Usually, people have more than one “thing” that is special to them, and some more than others. It could be a job, a hobby, cooking, a sport, a way of eating, a way of living, religion, travel, anything at all. This is what makes people different. This is what makes people interesting. It’s what creates culture. It’s what makes you YOU and me ME.

You know that old phrase, Don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk? Well, I hold that saying close to my heart. They are words that I remind myself of whenever I take on a new quest, begin a new journey, or immerse myself into the unknown. I believe in those 10 little words, and I love to see people living them in real, everyday life.
I’ve learned this lesson through my own experiences. I’ve begun many ventures and tried new things, and I’ve figured out what captures my attention and what I want to stick to. I’ve tried different sports, different hobbies, different ways of eating and living, and I’ve closed the book on many of those things too, mostly because my heart just wasn’t in them. When I don’t crave doing something, and don’t get overly excited to talk about it, I know, it just isn’t for me.

It has taken me a while to figure out exactly who I am and who I want to continue to be, and I’m still learning. I'm definitely still learning.

For me, being healthy and being kind to animals are most important. Living a true, healthy vegetarian lifestyle and removing myself from anything that is harmful to animals is what I personally need to do.  Being a vegetarian isn’t just a diet. It’s a way of life. It’s who I am. I embrace it, and everything I eat, wear, and believe in revolves around it.

When I do something that I really care about, I try to put my all into it. This even holds true to relationships and friendships. Regarding people, when I love someone, I love them so much that it hurts, and I will do anything for them. I have so much passion built up inside me sometimes
that it can make me insane. When I meet someone I don’t know or think I am threatened by, I try to stop and put myself in their shoes. Trying to be less judgmental with people is something I struggle with, but I'm teaching myself to be gentler. I’m learning to be the best person I can be, a mixture of everything I love and all my quirks and obsessions rolled into one.

I just love seeing people become so infatuated with something that they light up when they talk about it. I love to see people really get enthused over something.  Now I’m not saying I need to see people scream in excitement over their morning coffee and newspaper, I’m talking about real issues, real topics and real concerns that people have. What I’m saying is, if you really believe in something, believe in it with your whole heart. If you really want to try something new, give it your best effort. Don’t give up if it gets hard. Don’t be afraid of failure. If you really love someone, love them unconditionally and give them a part of you that they could break.  Figure out what you're willing to hurt for.  Figure out what is worth your pain.

So, take risks. Figure out what matters to you, and wrap your arms around it. You can begin and end so many different journeys, and eventually, you will figure out the path that is just right for you. Don’t just say “I’d love to try that sometime” or “I wish I could do that”…. If you really want to, get up and do it!
